Happy OCTOBER foodies and the rest. New month brings forth new delicious snacks and dishes, that are up my sleeves and this is just the beginning. I decided to go with churros since they are super easy to make and really delicious especially if you are sweet tooth kinda person.
A churro is a fried dough pastry and quite popular in spain and mexico, and I definitely bring it to you.They can be thin or thick in shape very crunchy on the outside, and mildly soft on the inside. Coated with cinnamon sugar, and it optional to have chocolate or caramel sauce on the side.
Making “Basic Cinnamon Churros“.
prep time -15 mins Cook time 20 mins or less Total time = 35mins
Yields/ Serves 4 pax
*Main Ingredients*
-1 cup of all purpose flour
-1 cup water
-3 tsp of white sugar
– 1 stick of butter
-vegetable oil -frying
For the coating:
-2 tsp of sugar
-2 tsp of ground cinnamon
Tools:
-pastry bag
-sufuria
-wooden spoon
*Method*
- Combine the cup of water and butter and bring to a boil using medium high heat. Once boiled, remove from the heat, add in flour and sugar and combine till you get a smooth sticky dough.
2. Make sure to transfer it to a different dish, and let it cool for 5 min. Once cooled, scoop and place it in the pastry bag and pipe the dough down. {This same pastry bag is used to ice cakes}. Pre -heat a sufuria or pan with vegetable oil.
3. Press the dough out of the pastry bag into the hot oil and cut it with a butter knife to the length according to the length you want. Fry until golden brown. Set a side on paper towels.
Once done frying, coat them with the cinnamon sugar and serve.

FYI: This is just the basic recipe for churros, others put milk, eggs and vanilla extract, but using the same steps. Play around with it. Have fun.
