Simple sausage gravy.

Sausage gravy is traditionally served as part of the dish biscuits and gravy and accompanied by other typical Southern breakfast items, such as fried eggs, sliced tomatoes and bacon.

Sausage gravy is a traditional Southern breakfast dish in the United States. After loose pork sausage is cooked in a pan and removed, a roux is formed by browning flour in the residual fat. Milk and seasonings, such as salt and pepper, are added to create a moderately thick gravy, to which the cooked sausage is added. Occasionally, ingredients such as cayenne pepper or a spicy sausage are used to make a spicier gravy.

Recently, I have been craving lots of savory dishes, and that being said, I believe this sausage gravy is the best dish to cater for my salty cravings. Who cares if am lacking something in my body!!! All I know is that am taking lots of water to be precise – 1800 ml of water per day {not like am counting} and eating lots of fruits. Yeaaay for me!!

How to make “Simple Sausage gravy”

Prep time: 5 mins   Cook time: 20 mins   Total Time: 25 mins

Yields /serves = 2 pax

*Main Ingredients*

-8 sausages {Chicken or beef}

-4 Tsp of all purpose flour

-1 cup of cold milk

-1/2 stick of butter

black pepper, paprika, cayenne chili flakes, salt

  1. Using the normal sausages, skin them off and set a side. In a large pan over medium high heat, add the butter and stir well until melted. Cook the sausage until brown and crumbly.

2. Once its started browning, sprinkle in the flour and mix well for 2 -3 mins as it continues to fry.

3. As it gets thicker- meaning a roux is formed, now you pour in 1/4 of the cup of milk as you continuously mix the sausages over medium high heat.

4. When the gravy starts to change color, know is almost ready. {Others like it thicker some runny, but I believe the best texture is supposed to be thick}. You can totally either -or.

Its best served while still hot. I decided to serve it with:

> Slices of Chicken ham sandwiches at the bottom.

> Topped it with raisins and Shredded coconut.

“You are allowed to go crazy on what to serve the gravy with. Make it fun.”P1100809

Final outcome.

Love and Love.
